INTRODUCING a dancer, singer & stand up comedian Randy Lopatin
My wife, Rivanne and I have been dancing on stage together for over 34 years. Rivanne has had Multiple Sclerosis since 1991. As members of the York Region Multiple Sclerosis Community, we are volunteering to be part the mymsfamily.com website design team currently under construction. Neuroplasticity is the ability of neural networks in the brain to change through growth and reorganization.
March 7, 1985, my compact car was t-boned by an auto carrier. I woke up out of my coma, three weeks later. I had to retrain all my muscles. Back then neuroscience believed we are hard wired. Once you have lost the ability. It is gone forever. I grab the hand rails in the hallway and taught myself how to walk, talk; go to the bathroom again. After 3 weeks I walked out of the hospital. Everyone thought it was a miracle. No, it was neuroplasticity.
December 19/2017, Rivanne while crossing the street with her cane was struck by motorist. She was confined to a hospital bed, wheelchair. Rivanne now is on the treadmill 2.5 hours/5 days a week. Today, June 28, 2021, we are donating Rivanne’s wheelchair, ramp & hospital bed to my MS family members.
