West Park Healthcare Centre

The New West Park will transform patient care. It will provide patients with the best possible therapeutic care environment to help them
recover and get back home and promote good mental and physical health by bringing the healing power of Nature inside and integrating
our indoor and outdoor therapy spaces. We are fortunate to have alarge campus alongside the Humber Valley and we will make good use
of it.

Once the new hospital building opens later this year 2023, Work will begin on putting the “Park” back in West Park. The exiting hospital plus
the Ruddy and Gage buildings will be decommissioned and the grounds will be developed to include multi use therapy spaces, walking trails,
quiet gardens and gathering spaces.

WEST PARK GIVING LIVES BACK!

injuries and illnesses, regain their independence and get their lives back.

2. WestPark is a national and Global leader in the fields of respirology, amputation and spasticity and debilitating symptoms
of stroke, spinal cord injury, illnesses including cerebral palsy and multiple sclerosis. We help educate current and future healthcare
providers in these growing fields and contribute research that is improving the lives of patients everywhere.

3. WestPark is an essential partner in our healthcare system. Helping people return home safely following a stay in acute care and avoid
admission through preventative care and services.

4. The innovative design and increased capacity of our new hospital building, opening fall 2023will enhance patient care and improve
access to our vital services, transforming the delivery of rehabilitation and complex continuing care at the centre.

5. By 2025, we will complete the transformation of our campus by creating outdoor therapeutic spaces that will integrate nature into
our rehabilitation facilities to better support the physical, psychological and emotional well-being of our patients.

New Look for WestPark Healthcare Centre

We were given a private tour of the New West Park Healthcare Centre by the CEO of the West Park Foundation Doug Earle (far left)

One of the many reception desks throughout the centre. Many close parking spots, with the majority of the parking underground below the hospital for close and dry entrance to the hospital.

A fully interactive theater. All the education seminars and shows will be broadcasted to every patient’s room for their education and entertainment. This way they will always feel included.

The rehabilitation therapy salt water pool. The pool has different depths, underwater treadmill for patients with joint pain, several ceiling lifts and a ramp. Plenty of natural light due to large windows.

West Park’s new hospital building is set to open its doors in fall 2023!

In the meantime, we want to show some of the new features, equipment, and spaces on our campus and how they will bring patient rehabilitation to a new level.

We recognize the importance comfort and privacy plays in recovery. 80% of our new rooms are private, single-bed units and are outfitted with patient ceiling lifts, sleeper chairs for family, accessible bathrooms, and bedside terminals with TV, internet, video calling, and room controls.

Maximizing rehabilitation time is crucial which is why our new hospital will cluster related services and specialized therapy gyms on each unit floor. We’re doubling the number of outpatients we treat with 60% larger rehab facilities so more people can receive the care they need while living at home.

Hydrotherapy is beneficial for mobility issues and can reduce recovery time following injury. Our new salt-water therapy pool will be six times the size of our current pool with three different depths, a ramp and two accessible lifts. Features include an underwater treadmill for joint pain and sensory stimulation equipment for those with acquired brain injuries.

Each patient floor will have an outdoor terrace to allow patients to easily access fresh air and benefit from the healing power of nature. The campus will also include gardens, trails, and outdoor rehabilitation spaces, so patients can learn to navigate all types of terrain.

This world-class facility will usher in the future of rehabilitative care and allow us to better support patients and meet the rising demand for complex continuing care.

Thank you for your ongoing support, without which, none of this would be possible.
