Plasma Donors Make All the Difference

Plasma collected at our plasma donor centres is manufactured into 50 different lifesaving medications and distributed to 730 hospitals and clinics across Canada. A lifesaving donation takes just over one hour and can have a lasting impact on someone's life.

As a plasma donor, you don’t just make a difference — you make all the difference.

Who Can Donate Plasma?

  • Must be at least 17 years old
  • Weigh more than 50 kg (110 lbs)
  • Be in general good health
  • Donors may give plasma as often as once a week
  • Travel: Donors who have travelled outside Canada can donate upon return
  • Malaria: People with a history of malaria or travel to malaria-risk areas may still donate

Only your plasma is collected during the donation — your red blood cells and platelets are safely returned to you.

Plasma Helps Treat a Growing Number of Diseases

For many patients, plasma is the only treatment available. It helps treat a wide range of life-threatening illnesses and conditions such as:

Cancer
Nervous System Disorders
Kidney Diseases
Organ Transplants
Surgeries
Rh Disease (in newborns)
Immune Deficiencies
