MP Majid Jowhari Celebrates UN’s International Day of People with Disabilities

Dear Peter and MY MS Family Members, 😊

I hope this email finds you well.

This is Shadi, Parliamentary Assistant from MP Majid Jowhari’s Office.

As we all celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities this weekend, I am reaching out to send over the attached statement that MP Jowhari delivered this weekend in the House of Commons in light of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities by highlighting the impactful contributions of Organizations such as My MS Family and others.

This important commemoration is about promoting an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights, and well-being of persons with disabilities. On this day and every day celebrates the contributions of persons with disabilities and continue to commit to building a Canada that is fairer, more inclusive, and accessible for everyone.

As we celebrate this important day, we also celebrate the impactful contributions of community leaders such as yourself and your amazing team at My MS Family 😊

Many are drawn to Richmond Hill and the York Region Community at large due to its diversity and community-building spirit. Community leaders such as yourself have immensely contributed to making Richmond Hill a more inclusive and accessible community for everyone. Organizations like My MS Family are the cornerstone of echoing this mission from plan to action.

Through this organization, our community has seen people with and without intellectual disabilities thrive. Your dedicated team has truly enhanced the dignity and quality of life of individuals and families by eliminating barriers to opportunity and helping our community members reach their full potential.

For that and all your continuous valued contributions, advocacy and dedicated commitment to enhance the quality of life for persons with disabilities, On behalf of MP Jowhari, we extend our utmost sincerest gratitude and appreciation to you and your passionate team!

Recently, we released Canada’s first-ever Disability Inclusion Action Plan – a blueprint for change that will challenge the Government of Canada and the networks and systems we operate in to do better. A cornerstone of the Action Plan is the Canada Disability Benefit – a federal income supplement for working age persons with disabilities designed to lift so many out of poverty.

Our government is making progress, but we deeply acknowledge that we have a long way to go to make Canada more accessible and equitable for everyone, and rest assured that MP Jowhari will always serve as a strong advocate for persons with disabilities in our communities.
